Police in Nyeri County arrested a man who killed his ex-girlfriend's son and buried him in a shallow grave in Mt Kenya Forest, Daily Nation reported on Saturday, September 28.
Charles Muriuki, the suspect is said to have killed Felista Waithera’s only son, Gideon Kang’ethe.
The deceased was reported missing on Saturday, September 21 only to turn up dead a week later.
The late Kang’ethe was an 11-year-old Standard Six pupil at Kirigu Primary School in Karatina.
Waithera wept as she knelt, looking at Muriku and wondering the reason behind the heinous act.
Police present at the scene suggested that murder was a result of the severed relationship between the two former lovers.
“This murder, the mother of the boy was a girlfriend of the suspect. She had decided to leave him and we suspect he killed the boy as revenge,” Mathira East Sub-county Police Commander James Baraza explained.
Following the revelations, police resolved to treat the murder as a homicide.
