Ruto Reveals Why Govt & Ken Okoth Couldn't Work Well Together

Deputy President William Ruto hit the campaign trail in Kibra on October 1, to drum-up support for Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga at Mash Park Hotel, in Kibra.

He urged the residents to carefully consider who they would vote for, explaining that supporting the footballer would translate to more development in the area.

“The projects we have done in Kibra faced a lot of opposition. We could not work freely with the late Ken Okoth (former area MP) because his party would question his loyalty.

“If you vote for Mariga, we will have a bridge that will enable us to come to Kibra as government to transform your lives,” the DP spoke.

He also dismissed claims by Gender CAS Rachael Shebesh that Mariga's bid did not enjoy the support of Jubilee Party leader Uhuru Kenyatta.

The former Nairobi woman representative had alleged that President Kenyatta was arm-twisted to endorse the former footballer.

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa Who had accompanied DP Ruto assured that she would support Jubilee's candidate.

Jumwa's meeting with ODM Party leader and other officials earlier in the day sparked questions whether she had gone back to her ODM roots.

The legislator however dismissed the reports, explaining that they had ambushed her at her County Hall office.

"Mimi nilisema naitwa sishuki. Hapo sikuongea chochote, nilivamiwa tu, (I have always said I won't jump ship. I never spoke during the alleged reunion, they just ambushed me," she narrated.
