Moses Kuria Heaps Praises on Ngilu During Taiwan Trip

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria on Tuesday, October 8, lauded Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu for the work she was doing in her county.

Kuria, through his Facebook account, praised the governor for being in the frontline of creating opportunities for her electorate.

“If all Governors were like Mama Ngilu, Kenya would be ahead,” the post read as Kuria expressed his support for her.

The two leaders were on a trip in Taiwan for the Taipei International Textiles Innovation Show when Kuria spoke of the governor’s ambitious project.

He revealed that the Kitui County Textiles Centre (Kicotec) would benefit from the Innovation show in learning emerging trends in the industry.

Kuria also mentioned that Kicotec had employed more than 350 people who were predominantly youth, with potential to grow to 10,000 employees.

He continued by disclosing that the apparel industry in the US was worth more than $340 billion with $100 billion coming from imports.

The legislator urged Kenyans to use this opportunity to create more jobs in the textiles industry, noting that he would work closely with Ngilu to have Kicotec take advantage of the deficit in the market.

According to the MP, President Uhuru Kenyatta had already directed that all Administration Police uniforms be procured from Kicotec.

He also reiterated that devolution was a way to compete for production and not consumption.

Kuria posted an audio clip of Ngilu advising Kitui residents on how to deal with pastoralists invading their land and those cutting down trees for charcoal production.

The legislator captioned the clip: "Love speech by Charity Ngilu. What happened to this ex of mine?"

The two leaders have clashed in the past with Moses Kuria making disrespectful comments about the Kitui Governor.

Kuria captioned a video by Ngilu claiming that she would arm her Kitui residents with arrows and bows so they could protect themselves against Somali herders, referring to her as his ex.

Kenyans had mixed reactions to Kuria's post as some defended Ngilu's message to Kitui residents while others accused her of incitement.

Those who expressed support for Ngilu noted that she was out to secure the interests of Kitui residents and protect the environment.
