Ruto Acts After Unruly Youth Storm Home

Deputy President William Ruto was forced to act after hundreds of youth from Kibra stormed his posh Karen home on Tuesday, October 8,

Through his Communications Director, Emmanuel Talaam, on Tuesday, October 8, the DP apologised for the incident which unsettled Karen residents.

Talaam took to social media to express the DP's sincerest apologies.

"Our sincere apology to the residents of Karen who are offended by the "noise" of DP Ruto's Kibera neighbours visiting his residence in Karen," he wrote.

The DP noted that the lives of Kibra residents would be invigorated under the Jubilee administration. In an earlier meeting at his home on Tuesday, October 8, he stated that Kibra would benefit from the Big 4 Agenda in regards to housing.

"One day they will live in Karen and won't make noise...kuteseka ni kwa muda (suffering is temporary)," Talaam tweeted.

He, however, defended Ruto's move to host Kibra residents in the posh residence.

"I didn't know it was a crime for DP Ruto to host his neighbours from Kibra at his posh residence in Karen.  Our sincere apology to those offended," Talam response read.

Initial reports claimed that the contingent from Kibra had made their way to DP Ruto's home after learning that he was to address a meeting of the Abagusii Community.

However, chaos erupted just outside Ruto's residence after the youth who were ferried by boda bodas were denied entry to the residence by police officers.

Frustrated after the lockout, the crowd turned to a fence near the DP's residence and brought it down while chanting songs and slogans praising ODM Party's Kibra by-election candidate, Imran Okoth.

In their end, Ruto's team of organizers claimed that the only reason they chose to close the gates, was because the meeting had already commenced and the crowd was late.
