Eliud Kipchoge's Mum's Passionate Act That Led to His Big Win [VIDEO]

A number of people have been attributed to Eliud Kipchoge's historic record that was witnessed on Saturday, October 12, but most are yet to remember the Champion's mother.

It is said there is nothing as powerful as mother's prayer and indeed Kipchoge’s mother Jane Rotich's solemn request to the almighty also worked the magic.

Back in Kapsisiywo village, Nandi County, as Kipchoge began the race Jane bowed her head for a moment to pray for her son as he took on the track to redefine the history of the marathon, Standard Reports.

His mother held her chest with her right hand as her son, a team of pacesetters and a timer waited to start the race.

On that chilly Saturday morning, Kipchoge's family had congregated to watch and pray for their son's victory, with his uncle Paul Songol constantly reassuring his mother that he would emerge victorious.

As the clock ticked towards the 1 hour, 59 minutes breaths were held, hearts throbbed as prayers were mumbled not knowing of the jubilation awaiting them in the next 40 seconds.

"I prayed and fasted for him to achieve what God had planned for the family, and Kipchoge has made me the mother of athletes,” the elated Jane declared.

When her son crossed the finish line, she broke into tears of pride and joy.

The marathoner had fulfilled his promise to inspire millions of people across the world through his philosophy of "no human is limited".

“Kipchoge has made me and the entire family happy. He has also made me known to the world,” Rotich stated as she held a trophy won by her son in the world championship in 2003.

The proud Ms. Rotich also disclosed to Nation that she was planning a big celebration after his son's return.

“I will be planning to welcome him in a big way and I’m just waiting for confirmation so that we can fix a day to celebrate him,” she added.
