Likoni Tragedy: Kalonzo Issues Tough Directive at Victims' Funeral [VIDEO]

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka directed Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr to represent John Wambua's family in their case against Kenya Ferry Services (KFS).

Speaking at AIC Kima Grounds where the funeral service for 34-year-old Mariam Kighenda and 4-year-old Amanda Mutheu was held, Kalonzo stated that the accident should serve as a wake-up call.

"Such an accident can't happen again. Senator Mutula, I want to direct you as your party leader to represent the family pro bono.

"This is criminal negligence. Nothing short of it. This boy will go through mental torture for the rest of his life," he remarked.

Adressing mourners at the same function earlier, Mutula could not hide his displeasure for Kenya Ferry Sevices (KFS).

He explained that the Ksh100,000 that was given to John Wambua's family as a donation was a complete mockery.

"I'll say the truth. KFS people are here and I want them to hear this. Even the Ksh100,000 that you gave out, what was that supposed to do by the way?

"It's as if you are laugning at us. Transport CS James Macharia should know that we are very angry that he issued a cheque of Ksh100,000," Mutula stated.

Kighenda and Mutheu were buried in Mung'ala Village, Makueni County.

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, Deputy Governor Adeline Mwau and MP Dan Maanzo were among the mourners present.
