Sonko Leads Angry Youth in Demolishing Property [VIDEO]

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday, October 22, led a group of angry youth in demolishing structures erected on city land parcels alleged to have been grabbed.

In a video posted by the governor who was on a mission to reclaim grabbed land, the youth are seen tearing down an iron sheet fence securing the land parcel in Nairobi's South C area.

"Repossessing a grabbed piece of land in Akiba South C. Some well-known individuals are behind the grabbing of this land. I have today revoked the ongoing construction of a building on the said land and investigations have commenced." he posted.

According to Nairobi County communications director, Jacob Elkanah, who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke,  the land in question had been set aside for a public playground.

"The governor stopped the development of five pieces of land in South C and Parklands areas which had been said to have been grabbed," he disclosed.

Earlier on, Sonko had also led a team in repossessing a public market and parking spaces that had suffered the same fate.

According to the series of videos posted by the Sonko, the governor is seen engaged in an all-out war against the alleged grabbers reminiscent of his combative days as Makadara MP - antics that endeared him to the public.

He later stopped at Parklands Ward park where he also repossessed another public playground and also stopped an ongoing illegal construction.

"At Parklands Ward repossessing Nairobi's Loresho Water Reservoir land that was grabbed by a private developer two decades ago," a passionate Sonko posted on his Facebook page.

This came shortly after Sonko exposed an apparent conspiracy to steal land from members of the public by the county and national government officials.

The governor, on social media, gave an account of Avtar Singh Nadhra, a man whose land the governor believes was grabbed by one Osman Gabow Ibrahim and Esther Wahito Kuria.

He narrated that the original title deed to the land was issued to Nadhra in 1995  for lease starting May 1, 1995, for 99 years.

The governor further stated that a new title was later issued under the Registration of Titles Act despite the act being repealed in 2012, noting that the property was then transferred to a group of companies by the name Abdis World Group.
