Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, on Monday, October 28, ranted about how the assaulters of Jubilee by-election candidate McDonald Mariga were still free since the attack.
Taking to Twitter, Murkomen insinuated that the people who were involved in the assault were considered politically correct individuals.
The lawmaker further claimed that some high-ranking Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders had publicly made inciting statements but due to their status, they were yet to record statements.
"Violence meted on David Owalo and McDonald Mariga is being condoned and sanitised because it’s perpetrated by the politically correct 'father of democracy and good governance'.
"No wonder Junet Mohammed (minority whip - national assembly) and John Mbadi (ODM chairman) haven’t recorded any statement even after outright acts of incitement to violence ostensibly to protect handshake," lamented Murkomen.
Murkomen was in effect claiming that the chaos was sponsored by ODM, Jubilee's major rival in Kibra even though he did not provide further evidence to justify the assertions.
On Sunday, October 27, ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi's vehicle was stoned while he campaigned for his Kibra candidate in the upcoming November 7 by-election.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke at the time, ANC secretary-general Barack Muluka, who was present at the rally, stated that they were stoned by a section of rowdy Kibra youth at Kamukunji Grounds in Sarang'ombe.
"We were holding our rally at Sarang'ombe when we were stoned by the youth. We don't believe in violence. We restrained our young people.
"We were able to leave the area and went to Laini Saba area where we continued with our campaigns," he stated over the phone.
That was a repeat of a Saturday, October 12, incident in which Mariga's convoy was attacked by rowdy youth who went on to set the tyres of one of his vehicles ablaze in an adjacent road, beside his campaign billboard.
