Mayhem as Snake Interrupts Gov Mutua's Speech [VIDEO]

A gathering being addressed by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua was left scampering for safety after a snake interrupted the session.

Governor Mutua was addressing a rally in Machakos county on Saturday, October 2 when the snake appeared in the midst of the crowd.

Mutua was endorsing Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Kibra candidate Benard 'Imran' Okoth, who meekly stood by him, cap in hand, before the meeting was interrupted.

In the video, Mutua who was addressing the rally in Kamba language, was forced to stop after people began fleeing the venue amidst shouts of "snake! snake!."

The perplexed Mutua paused speaking, before swiftly resolving to calm the visibly shaken listeners.

"Shetani ashindwe!(May the devil not prosper)," the Maendeleo Chap Chap leader rebuked.

He further joked that those were the work of his opponents who did not want the meeting to go on.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga who was also in the gathering however, remained calm in his seat, unperturbed by the passing reptile.

As the crowd resumed its calm, Mutua urged them to settle so as the session would continue as Mutua patiently waited to take on from where he had left, after the rude interruption.

Mutua and his Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu, throwing their weight behind Imran ahead of the anticipated November 7 Kibra by-election.
