Sonko Finally Nabs Daring Impostor

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, breathed a sigh of relief after an elusive con-artist was arrested on Monday, November 4.

The man identified as Geoffrey Mandela Kengere was arrested by "City Hall detectives" for allegedly swindling people money using fake social media accounts bearing Sonko's name.

"Detectives arrested an imposter who has been conning members of the public by using Mike Sonko pseudo- Facebook & Twitter accounts," the governor announced on Twitter.

Sonko urged Kenyans to be vigilant and report any cases linked to impersonation to the police.

"The suspect is in police custody for questioning before he's arraigned in court. I wish to remind members of the public that my Facebook and Twitter accounts are all verified," the governor cautioned following the arrest.

Several Kenyans took to the governor's official social media pages and accused Mandela of scamming them in the past.

"This guy conned me of Ksh 5,000," Douglas Mbuthia posted on Sonko's official twitter page.

"He has also taken Ksh 4,500 from me which he said was for a logbook for the inua vijana initiative. Kindly call me now, I have records of all the transaction. 0768******  is my number. I'm really suffering because of him," another user - Kiranto Lemein, posted

The suspect was grilled by the police in the presence of one of the complainants, Lawrence Ogutu, as they sort to root out other suspects in what was unravelling to be a well-orchestrated syndicate.
