Controversial TV Pastor Tears Into Female MPs in Rant

A controversial TV pastor could not hide his disdain for female legislators whom he accused of chasing after money and favours from men.

Pastor Godfrey Migwi, a televangelist at BBC Swahili slammed the MPs for what he termed as being a disgrace to the community.

According to Migwi, the female MPs had failed to follow in the footsteps of pioneer women leaders like Grace Onyango (first woman MP in post-independence Kenya), Phoebe Asiyo (first African chairperson of Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization), Julia Ojiambo (first woman to be appointed as an assistant minister in Kenya), Wangari Maathai (first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize), Martha Karua (first woman lawyer to be elected in Parliament), Charity Ngilu (first female presidential candidate), and Supreme Court Justice Njoki Ndungu, among others.

"Days are gone when we had women leaders who were strong in their leadership skills. They were not favoured by men nor the constitution, but delivered to Kenyans and to the world. These great women proved that some problems simply need good brains, focused attention, and a public service mentality, not money.

"But now we have honourable slay queens whose their duty is to satisfy their political masters. I have watched with dismay the continued political confrontations of our women leaders – Inua Mama and Embrace, as each faction strives to please their political demigods ahead of 2022 General Elections," Migwi slammed.

He further ranted on how the country had made a mistake in making women leadership a norm and not an exception after the promulgation of the constitution in 2010, which created the two-thirds gender rule and creation of women seats.

"Perhaps that’s what inspired the crafters of our constitution that is explicit on the two-thirds gender law. Unfortunately, we fell for the common fallacy that by having more women in Parliament we would automatically achieve better representation on (women’s) issues. Wrong!" Migwi ranted.

He pinpointed out  Maathai for her contribution to humanity through the Green Belt Movement, and Karua for her contribution to women empowerment.

"Fast forward to 2019, enters the drama queens like Cate Waruguru, Susan Kihika, Gathoni Wamuchomba, Millie Odhiambo, Millicent OmangaAnab Subow, Aisha Jumwa, Gladys Wanga, Gladys Boss Sholei, Mishi Mboko, and others.  Not even their elder peers like Alice Wahome and Jane Kihara have shown any maturity or physical integrity; what a disgrace.

"Just Last weekend, Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru hurled unprintable words towards Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru as Garrisa Woman Representative Anab Subow descended on the person of Raila Odinga calling him uncircumcised in front of cameras. Anab Subow needs to apologize to Raila Odinga and to the Kenyans," Migwi called the female MPs out.
