Judge Demands Kalonzo's Classified Messages in Murder Case

A murder suspect in a controversial land case has seemingly won the first round after a High Court judge ruled that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's classified messages with the government about the land should be provided to him.

On a Monday, November 11, report, the suspect, Joseph King’ori roped the former vice president in the case, claiming that Kalonzo had vested interests in the contentious 2000-acre piece of land, whose battle for ownership left one dead and scores injured.

According to The Standard, Judge Alfred Mbeya ruled in favour of the suspect ordering the state to disclose an alleged communication between Kalonzo and some security officials regarding the parcel of land.

King’ori had earlier made an application demanding the messages, arguing that the information would enable him to prepare aptly for his defence.

He made his case by arguing that the Wiper leader was using the state to advance his interest in the parcel of land.

The land is a part of some 10,000 acres in Meru North that are occupied by a number of clans including Akachiu, Uringu and Atubaita.

The suspect is accused of killing George Mithika on Friday, October 4, at Kianda Village over the wrangles.

After murder charges were levelled against him, King'ori rushed to court demanding to have details of the pieces of communication.

He also wanted to obtain a security report that he claimed vindicated the former Mwingi North MP of blame after chaos erupted leaving Mithika dead.

Judge Mbeya explained that the government had not denied the existence of communication between its officials and Kalonzo and ordered it be supplied to King'ori's team.
