A section of Jubilee legislators, on Wednesday, November 13, dared Deputy President William Ruto to tackle his boss head-on instead of using proxies to settle scores.
While addressing the media outside Parliament buildings, according to People Daily, the 23 lawmakers who are part of the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee Party dared the DP to resign and set up his own party.
They further challenged him to go after President Uhuru Kenyatta instead of attacking his leaders such as Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and his deputy Karanja Kibicho.
"You cannot claim to be supporting the president, while at the same time going ahead to undermine him. This is totally unacceptable and you must either quit from the president’s government or shut up,” stated Borabu MP Benson Momanyi.
"If you [Ruto] are not satisfied with how President Kenyatta has been managing this government, then, what is stopping you from resigning? Bolt out and form your own party. You have been a bother to the president," added Tiati MP, William Kamket.
The lawmakers further claimed that it was ironic for the DP to argue that he was supporting the president yet he undermined some of the projects undertaken by him.
The briefing came a day after DP-allied MPs accused Matiang'i and his deputy of fanning Kibra chaos in which they claimed was targeted against them and their supporters.
Shortly after the Kieleweke MP gave an address, the DP took to social media to bash former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who he claimed was responsible for the rift in Jubilee Party.
"“Tinga and his party’s trail of political conmanship and deceit from Kanu through Cord to Nasa and now heading to Jubilee; and [a] litany of violence from 1982’ coup to Kibra cannot be hidden behind BBI,” he stated.
Other leaders who attended the Parliament briefing included Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), and Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South).
