Ruto Quotes Bible While Threatening Daily Nation Over Controversial Story

Deputy President William Ruto, on Sunday, November  17, used a bible verse to tear into the Daily Nation over a headline they ran on the day.

Taking to Twitter, the country's second in command blasted the popular local daily, claiming they were being used to push certain agendas.

"Detractors rattled by Jubilee emerging united and strong post - Sagana are, in collabo with usual brown envelope journalists, back to the drawing board to continue their never-ending scheme to stumble us," Ruto tweeted.

He then went on to reference Matthew chapter 18, verse 6, in what appeared to be a veiled threat to the publication he accused of employing the services of brown envelope journalists.

"If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea," reads Matt. 18:6 NIV.

During his impassioned speech in Kericho on Saturday, November 16, DP Ruto urge Jubilee party rebels to shape up or ship out, adding that there was no room for trouble makers in the ruling party.

“Those who are fomenting trouble should declare their stand and quit,” he stated.

This came just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta met leaders from Mt Kenya region at Sagana State Lodge in Nyeri County.

Uhuru cautioned the leaders present about the dangers of the political paths that they were taking.

"I want to take you back to 2007 up to where we are today. You know the problems we had. Some of you here are still very bitter about what happened," he spoke.

He castigated the leaders for playing politics at a time when the government's sole agenda was development.
