Jubilee MPs Go Head-to-Head on Live TV Over Uhuru's Secret Meeting [VIDEO]

Two Jubilee Members of Parliament on Sunday, November 17, sharply differed on the aftermath of President Uhuru Kenyatta's meeting in Sagana on Friday, November 15.

The two, Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua both hosted on Ann Kiguta's Punchline show on K24 TV fleshed out their sentiments on the handshake between the president and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Gachagua began by stating that he had no problem with the president but was, nevertheless, opposed to Raila despite the unifying handshake.

"Uhuru had stated that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) would be presented to the people and would be debated accordingly. However, I have a problem with Raila who once stated in Kibra that whoever opposed the BBI would encounter a tsunami," Gachagua disclosed.

Wambugu, however, claimed that in the meeting, Uhuru made it clear that the handshake was for peace and not aimed at 2022 succession and that Raila had also outlined the same thing.

The Nyeri MP further stated that he had faith in his party leader and had no problem with the handshake unlike Gachagua, a pro-DP William Ruto legislator.

Gachagua attributed his lack of faith in Raila to various political instances in the past involving the former Prime Minister.

"However, the president did not shake his own hand in as much as he meant well for this country," he stated.

According to Wambugu, despite the president consulting Ruto on the handshake, the DP had still viciously fought Raila. Wambugu explained that this was because Ruto felt that the handshake stood between him and his 2022 presidential ambitions.

"Ruto will neither stop in attacking nor insulting Raila. He will not change even after Uhuru's meeting in Sagana," the Nyeri MP affirmed.

Gachagua, however, claimed that attacks on the DP, especially on his frequent tours around the country were malicious and hypocritical.

“About the deputy president going about the country launching projects. There is nothing he is doing differently than what he was doing before 2013. No one complained at that time. He doesn’t just go to places, he is invited,” defended the Mathira MP.
