Joho's Tough Criteria For Appointing New Cabinet [VIDEO]

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Tuesday, November 19, spoke on the criteria he would use to appoint his new Cabinet.

Speaking during an interview by a KTN News reporter, the county boss stated that there was already a team in place evaluating the various achievements of the county ministers.

"I gave them two years term contract which has now expired. The end of these contracts will allow me to critically evaluate what they have been able to achieve within the period," Joho explained.

He further disclosed that there was a team in place, scrutinising on the impact the executives have been able to create so far while in office.

"There is a team already evaluating the social, economic and political impact they have had so far. The team will also look into the ministers' engagement with the ordinary mwananchi (residents) over the two years," he added.

The county head had dismissed his entire cabinet on Tuesday, November 12, after their contracts, which began on November 2017 expired.

He told them to vacate their offices so that he could analyse the reports they had forwarded to him.

The review would help inform the governor on whom to retain and let go.

"There are some that have performed well while others are wanting. Therefore, let me look at it critically and make a decision," he explained.

Joho assured the public that there was no vacuum in his administration, as functions have been ongoing and services provided effectively.

"Some are already calling to lobby for some of the CEC members who they saw performing while others are reporting those who slept on the job," he concluded.
