Vivo Energy Managing Director (MD) on Tuesday, November 19 resigned from his post in the company.
According to a press statement, the MD, Joe Muganda resigned from the Shell-branded retailer after 1 year and 10 months.
The company, therefore, appointed Peter Murungi to replace Muganda after his decision to exit the company at the end of November. His predecessor's appointment is effective from December 1.
"I would like to thank Joe for the contribution he has made as MD of Vivo Kenya and wish him well for the future. I am certain that Peter will build on his success to steer the organisation to even greater achievements," wrote Executive Vice President East and Southern Africa, Hans Paulsen.
Muganda took the mantle from Polycarp Igathe who had resigned in 2017 to become Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's deputy, a role from which he later resigned.
Prior to his job at Vivo energy, Muganda was the Nation Media Group CEO from July 2015 to Jan 2018, but he quit before the end of his tenure.
Before joining NMG, Muganda was an MD at East African Breweries Limited (EABL) for 2 years and 10 months.
The incoming MD, Peter, has worked for Vivo Energy since 2007 in various capacities, most recently leading the group's implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning System.
"He joined Shell in 2007 where he worked as a depot manager in both Nairobi and Mombasa. In 2011 he transferred to Vivo Energy's operations in Namibia, initially as supply and distribution manager before becoming supply and marketing manager in 2013," the presser read.
