DP Ruto Trashes NMG Journalist in Latest Tirade

Deputy President William Ruto, on Tuesday, November 19, took on veteran Daily Nation columnist Macharia Gaitho over his latest article.

Gaitho - in his article published on November 19, claimed that DP Ruto had turned into a bitter man following President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to remain mum over Jubilee Party's political future.

The veteran political commentator had used the recent Sagana State Lodge retreat to explain that all was not well within Jubilee.

Gaitho noted that MPs allied to the deputy president were deliberately locked out of the podium, due to their political stance, with the president steering clear of political overtones all through.

However, in his rebuttal, Ruto maintained that the party was stronger than ever, adding that he had resulted in using social media platforms to get his messages across because the media had been compromised.

"In Sagana, Jubilee's democratic credentials were affirmed. Headlines are paid for, stories planted and span. Twitter is the remedy," he posted.

The country's second in command lauded Gaitho for his article but deemed it as inaccurate, going on to explain the positives that had come out of his forays into Kibra during the November 7 by-election.

"Gaitho, your piece though inaccurate is an attempted fair comment. In Kibra, we doubled our percentage votes and used the opportunity to call out the lords of violence," Ruto tweeted.

The NMG journalist - in his article, claimed that Ruto's Twitter tirades were as a result of Uhuru's failure to reaffirm his commitment to back Jubilee's candidate in the 2022 General Election during the Sagana retreat.
