Kabogo Grills NTV's Ken Mijungu During Live Broadcast

Former Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo, seemed to have been well-armed to ensure he was ahead of his peers on NTV's Sidebar.

On Tuesday, November 19, Kabogo posed a tough question to the show host Ken Mijungu when the debate that also included Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, and former Nyeri Woman Representative, Priscilla Nyokabi, was heating up.

Mijungu had pressured Nyokabi to explain on how the BBI would be handled after being presented to Kenyatta. The lawyer had stated that BBI was in a consultative phase and that legal processes would follow as the initiative was a proposal and not a draft as the anchor had appeared to argue.

"Nyokabi is raising a situation where the discussion is important. You (Mijungu) are raising another that the report looks like a finished one like Dr. Ekuru Aukot's Punguza Mizigo bill. It is a discussing document, it will be subjected to national documents. Hang on a minute, are you taking a position on this?" Kabogo questioned as the anchor retreated back to moderating the debate.

Kabogo further put Murkomen on the spot, arguing that the Senator should have been at the forefront of uniting Jubilee. The former governor dared Murkomen to face the president and articulate the issues that he did not appreciate within BBI.

"Don't separate the president and his deputy because when good things happen, you (people) put them together. When bad things happen, people want to associate it with one person. If Kenyatta fails to deliver, it will be looked at as the whole Jubilee, including the deputy and his senior majority leaders. They will all go home. We won't clean an MP or minister. All of you will go down.

"Have you ever engaged the president and told him these issues you raise? This brain that you think you have, have you used it to face the president. Go and face him then come back and face the people," Kabogo dared.

During the debate, Murkomen disclosed that he was annoyed by the sprouting of the Tanga Tanga and Kieleweke factions within his party.

"One of the things we must deal with within the party is to find ways to meet frequently," Murkomen told the show's host Ken Mijungu.

Kabogo would then go on to highlight how the fixation on BBI had, according to him, steered the focus of Jubilee leaders away from the suffering of Kenyans.

"The brigade that runs with Ruto is against BBI, while those with Uhuru are pro-BBI. Is there something that these people know and we don't. Why do we have to fight it? The whole country is crying of hunger and youth are crying of unemployment. That's what we should be talking about.

"My message to Kenyatta is that Kenyans are suffering. The leaders have extended Kenya's debt ceiling. Yes Jubilee had made their promise on development, but what they are forgetting is that Kenyans are broke," Kabogo warned.

Nyokabi advocated for the rights of women, stating that equality was paramount. She regretted that the two-thirds gender rule was never passed in parliament.
