Popular Kikuyu Gospel artist Sammy Irungu in a fit of rage hurled unprintable insults at a woman over the phone after a confrontation over a Ksh15,000 performance fee.
The woman confirmed to be the wife of the resident pastor at ACK Kabaru Church, claimed that they had paid Irungu the sum to perform at a church function but he failed to show up.
In the undated leaked audio, the woman was seeking answers on why the musician stood them up to which the musician claimed to have been stuck in Dubai after failing to get a flight back home in time.
"Am I speaking to Sammy? I am calling from the church you were to perform yesterday but you never showed up. Kindly do you mind telling us why?" the lady had questioned.
As the conversation went on neither the musician nor the caller was willing to give the other a chance to explain their position leading to a heated argument.
Irungu tried to explain that he did not have the money to refund and needed the church to organise another event that he would grace as payment for the missed event.
The lady was adamant that the church had no intention of organising another event and that the musician needed to only refund the cash.
After a few minutes of a back-and-forth between the two, Irungu snapped and called the lady a prostitute after she accused him of being a conman.
"You con people we know and we have the evidence," the lady stated to which Irungu angrily replied "Please don't bring your prostitution behaviour close to me, you were conned because you are a prostitute. Why don't you con people too."
The conversation deteriorated further when the woman disclosed that she was recording the conversation and an incensed Irungu hurled more unprintables at the lady daring her to expose him claiming he would only pay them back and be done with them.
The musician arrogantly claimed that the amount the church was claiming was only enough to buy snacks as his performances were paid into the hundreds of thousands.
He then went ahead to curse at the woman who at the moment seemed to have been left speechless and shocked at the turn of events.
Kenyans.co.ke tried to reach both parties severally for a comment on a possible resolution of the matter but by the time of going to press none of them was available.
