Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen was on Wednesday, November 27, booed in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta during the launch of BBI's report at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.
Murkomen claimed the speakers chosen to address the audience was skewed, as leaders allied to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga had been given priority and were using the opportunity to criticise their opponents.
"We must have an honest discussion, even the way Junet you are running the program, we must have an honest discussion about it. Your Excellency, it would be a lie for me to leave this stage without saying that this program has been skewed to leave out people with different opinions," Murkomen stated, sending the crowd wild.
He was reacting to a statement by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who had welcomed him on stage claiming that the event was meant to discuss the BBI report and not the problems of Jubilee.
Murkomen was forced to pause his speech as the Chairman of the BBI Team, Yusuf Haji calmed the crowd, allowing the senator to continue.
This incident forced a short chat between the president and his deputy William Ruto who seemed to have been caught off-guard by the senators' sentiments.
Among the leaders who were visibly angry at Murkomens statements was Kisumu Woman representative, Rozza Akinyi who was shouting on top of her lungs at the senate majority leader.
The senator went ahead to shower the president with praises over what he termed as excellent leadership that made the event possible.
He further credited the president to his election and subsequent appointment as the majority leader.
