Itumbi Hounded Out of Uhuru's BBI Event [VIDEO]

A video of Digital strategist and blogger Dennis Itumbi being roughed up behind President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Bomas of Kenya meeting surfaced online on Wednesday, November 2019.

The clip showed the president, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, DP William Ruto and Senator Yusuf Haji seemingly posing for a photo before the blogger appeared in the background being chased out of the event.

The incident came shortly after the head of state had completed his speech and the event was nearly ending.

It is not clear why he was being chased away from the event.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Itumbi downplayed the incident, claiming that the event was almost coming to a close and he was on his way out anyway.

He further played cool about the incident on Facebook and claimed that he had been confused for his look-a-like brother.

"I had a beautiful moment as I left Bomas a few moments ago... with the deputy escort commander who kept telling me, 'we know you are not Dennis Itumbi but his brother'.

"Lucky for me, a colleague saved me... A few minutes later, he was clearing the road for me," posted Itumbi.

Earlier in the day, there was more drama at the event, caused by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen who was booed while giving his speech.

Murkomen claimed the speakers chosen to address the audience were skewed and mostly allied to Raila, an utterance that did not seem to sit well with the attendees.

"We must have an honest discussion, even the way Junet you are running the program, we must have an honest discussion about it. Your excellency, it would be a lie for me to leave this stage without saying that this program has been skewed to leave out people with different opinions," stated Murkomen during the event.

He was reacting to a statement by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed who had welcomed him on stage, claiming that the event was meant to discuss the BBI report and not the problems of Jubilee.
