Jimi Wanjigi Caught Up in New Saga

Businessman Jimi Wanjigi and a woman identified as Cissy Kalunde Musembi have been caught up in a new tussle where both of them are laying claim to a piece of land in Westlands, Nairobi.

Reports from the Daily Nation on Sunday, December 1, indicate that Wanjigi, through his company Aureum Limited, discovered the anomaly when the piece of land was put up for sale only to discover that there was another title deed attached to the same property.

The publication reported that when Wanjigi's Aureum limited attempted to sell the piece of land to a company identified as  Kenroid Limited through their lawyers, they established that a title deed for the same property had been confiscated on May 28, 2019.

The discovery forced the Kenroid Limited's lawyers Taibjee and Bhalla Advocates to call off the sale of the property and demand a refund of the 20 percent of the Ksh56 million that had been paid as part of the downpayment to the limited.

“During the course of the transaction, the authenticity of the title and ownership of the land came into question. The purpose of this letter is to alert you of the above and ask you to surrender the title for safe custody as the undersigned further feels that the custody of this title is now jeopardized,” the letter, signed by Madhav Bhalla, reads.

This case has reportedly called for the DCI to record statements from senior officials at the offices of the Registrar of Lands and the registrar of companies.

The officials are also reported to have been ordered to surrender stamp impressions to the detectives for further scrutiny to establish who might have been at the centre of the scandal.

The DCI officials are also reported to have demanded CCTV footages the entrance and exits at the State Law Office on May 28 and on a State Counsel at the office of the Registrar of Companies, Jemimah Mungai.

The DCI officials have been ordered by the court to conclude the investigations and ascertain who exactly the property belongs to.

The prime land has been registered as Grant I.R No. 65800 L.R.No.1870/II/200.
