Citizen TV MD's Advice to Lilian Muli on Hate Comments

There's a quote that states 'no matter how good you are, there will always be someone criticizing you' and this has been the case for renowned media personality Lilian Muli and other celebrities.

Most critics take to social media platforms to express their views, not minding how their sentiments could affect their subjects.

The news anchor told Kenyans.co.ke on December 5, 2019, about how her boss helped her deal with hateful comments on social media.

The renowned media personality stated that her mentor, Wachira Waruru (Royal Media MD), taught her not to take the hate remarks to heart.

"One of my mentors is my MD and he says that one person could be making a lot of noise online and it will look like the hate is viral.

"However, it is a very small and insignificant percentage (of people) who make these bad comments," she told Kenyans.co.ke.

She went ahead and stated that she has learnt to avoid negative people and concentrates more on those who show positive energy.

In yet another interview conducted by Malkia Africa in February 2019, Muli narrated how Citizen TV was a different experience because, at the time, prime time news bulletins were serious and could only be done in a certain kind of way.

"My chairman and my 'CEO' Wachira Waruru allowed us to wear shorter dresses, he allowed us to do long hair, he allowed us to just be ourselves and he said that our products would be driven by our individual personalities.

"That was different because I was used to being in this very straight jacket rigid news anchor that was really not supposed to over smile or giggle or chuckle," she stated.
