Police Officer Fired After Asking for Leave to Save Marriage

A police officer from the Border Police Unit on Tuesday, December 10 cried out to the government following his request for leave and desire to save his family.

Through a Facebook post, Administration Police Constable John Ngotho complained that since December of 2018, he had not been allowed to see his family, a situation which forced his wife to leave him.

"I have never been given official permission in the Border Police Unit to go home since December last year, the last annual leave I was given was in 2012. My family broke up, I don't know where my children are?" claimed Ngotho.

After efforts to save his marriage, he was handed a warning letter after his seniors were unable to trace him for 21 days.

When he asked for permission to attend court sessions on November 19, 2019, after his wife filed for divorce, Ngotho claimed that he was given an option to choose between his job and personal life.

"To add insult to injury, I begged for permission to salvage the situation, the matter is in now court. I asked for permission to go to court, and I was told to choose between my job and my family and I was further informed that I could not serve two masters," he lamented.

After complaining to his seniors, the officer received a dismissal letter which also informed him that he won't receive the December salary.

"Now I've been told I've been sacked and December pay has been stopped, and I have been chased away from the camp. I've been stretched beyond by the inhumanity vented on me.

"I wrote to them begging for annual leave, I was issued with a warning letter, why treat me so bad?" he further complained.
