Ex-NMG Editor to Lead Anti-Corruption Body

Ex-NMG editor Sheila Masinde was on Thursday, December 19, was announced as the incoming executive director of Transparency International-Kenya effective January 2020.

Masinde's appointment in an acting capacity came after the resignation of Samuel Kimeu who left to take on another assignment.

"Masinde has been part of TI-Kenya’s senior management team since 2015. As such, the Board has confidence that she has the experience to steer the organisation in the transition period," a statement by Bernadette Musundi, the Chairperson for the Board of Directors read in part.

Before joining the organisation, Masinde worked at the Nation Media Group as a radio news presenter for Easy FM and online sub-editor. 

She holds a Master of Arts in Communication studies from the School of Journalism, University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyatta University.

She later worked for I Choose Life as a programme trainer and assistant programme manager.

She also sits on the board of I Choose Life and serves in the resource mobilisation and communications board committee.

Masinde has over 16 years of work experience in media, outreach, governance and programme management.

She joined TI-Kenya in 2014 from BBC Media Action (British Broadcasting Corporation’s international development charity) where she was the communications and training manager.

She first worked for Transparency International Kenya from 2009 to 2012 as the advocacy and communications programme officer.

TI-Kenya was founded in 1999 as a not-for-profit organisation with the aim of developing a transparent and corruption-free society through good governance and social justice initiatives.
