Crucial Reason That Led to The Split of Isaac Mwaura’s Parents

In an interview conducted by Stori Yangu in May 2019, Grace Mwaura, mother to nominated senator Isaac Mwaura, disclosed that bringing him up as a differently-abled person was tough.

The senator's mother stated that he did not understand some of the challenges that he was going through.

“When he was growing up, I did not know that the biggest problem for Mwaura was the sun and so he would go out but then remove his pants and use them to cover his head to avoid the sun,” she narrated.

She went on to narrate that she would always get a different room from other patients every time she visited the hospital.

“They thought my baby was strange looking and not like other people,” she added.

On his side of the story, Mwaura stated that his mother had been accused of cheating on her husband, something that made his father desert them.

“My father ran away because he could not accept that he had a son with albinism. When I was born he said that they did not have genes like those in his family and so he left.

“He said that my mother had been unfaithful,” the Nominated senator narrated.

Mwaura's mother, however, stated that she had learnt to leave with his decision and was not bitter about it.

The senator went on to narrate that his childhood was difficult, adding that he thought his pigmentation would change with time.

“It was difficult because first, you need to understand that you are different and I used to think that it was something I would grow out of,” he confessed.

The Jubilee party politician has gone on to scale to great heights including serving as a senior adviser to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga from 2010 to 2012 on Public Policy on Special Interest Groups.
