Raila Makes Fresh Demands Over DP Ruto's Harambee Contributions [VIDEO]

ODM leader and former prime minister Raila Odinga on Friday, December 27 asked Deputy President William Ruto to step aside to allow the investigation into the source of his wealth.

Odinga who was speaking during an interview with Citizen TV at his Opoda Farm home in Bondo claimed that the war against corruption has not been genuine enough.

He further stated that the war had to be directed towards individuals of power high up in the government with unexplained wealth.

The former PM alleged that the DP had been travelling with sacks full of money as he looked for Harambees to donate to which was not a characteristic of a person with genuine wealth.

"You have a situation where individuals are moving around with sacks full of money every Sunday looking for Harambees to go and donate. Until there is boldness enough to face those people directly and tell them to step aside we do lifestyle audit on you, we are just scratching the surface,” he alluded.

He further stated that DP Ruto keeps on hosting delegations from all over the country at his home and at the end of every meeting he would hand over a bag full of cash to the guests.

“We need to hold the bull by its horn, which individual can be having that kind of money to dispense? Having delegations at your place and giving them kiinua mgongo (back lifter), it is the impunity of the highest order,” Odinga added.

The ODM leader claimed that he had not ditched the opposition, just that he had stooped the public crusades and was 'tightening thing from the inside' on the corruption purge that had plagued the country.

"I have not reduced the opposition if some are crying foul its because I have tightened things from the inside. There should be no sacred cows if we expect to succeed," the Africa Union enjoy stated.

As he ended his interview he took another shot at the DP claiming that Ruto was so much obsessed with the 2022 general elections forgetting that he won't be the only one on the ballot box.

“There are so many Kenyans who want to be president in 2022, not only the DP…that position is not reserved for the DP alone,” he stated.
