Student Perishes Hours Before Joining Dream School

A man and his daughter lost their lives in a grisly road accident along the Msambweni-Lungalunga Road in Kwale County on January 7, 2020.

The man, since identified as Gabriel Mwero, 40, was accompanying his daughter, Maria Nyamvula Mwero, 15, for shopping in preparation for joining high school.

Kwale County Police Commander Joseph Thenge informed Kenyans.co.ke that Maria was to enroll as a Form One student at Kingwende Girls Secondary School on January 8.

"I understand that she was preparing to go to school on Wednesday morning, "Thenge stated.

Mwero had carried his daughter on his motorbike when they collided head-on with another rider when he made an attempt to overtake a bus.

The two died on the spot as a result of the impact. 

"The accident happened at around midday yesterday and they both perished on the spot," the police boss informed. 

Their bodies were ferried to Kwale Sub-county Hospital mortuary.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke Kwale OCS Ludwim Sasati informed that another accident involving a boda boda operator and a Toyota Landcruiser Prado was witnessed along the same road on January 8.

Sasati stated that the rider was rushed to the hospital and had was in a stable condition. 

"Earlier today there was another accident that involved a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and a boda boda rider, though there were no casualties," Sasati revealed.

"I have been informed that the rider is stable after undergoing a procedure to nurse an injury he obtained on the head," he added.

Sasati stated that police officers were on high alert to ensure the safety of motorists along the road.
