Willis Raburu Pens Emotional Message to Deceased Daughter

Yes, it is inevitable, but the pain of losing a child carries on. It may not show on the face but, deep down, it is still felt and even scary to accept.

Taking to social media, Citizen TV journalist Willis Raburu on Thursday, January 16 penned a heartfelt message to his daughter, Adana, who passed on.

On Friday, January 3, the 10 Over 10 host took to social media to announce that he would be taking a break to help uplift his wife's spirits following the tragic incident.

In the message, Raburu conceded to going through a tough time, revealing that some days were tougher on him and he bore an image of her in his mind.

He admitted to having sleepless nights in which he reminisced on how it would be like spending time with his daughter.

"My beautiful daughter, some days are easy some days are so hard. Today I woke up trying to imagine what it would be like to watch you sleep, ( that’s the only image I have of you) what it would be like to hold your warm fingers, what a sleepless night would feel like," Raburu's message reads in part.

The would-be first-time father narrated the curiosity that stalks his mind about the traits his daughter would pick up from him or rather develop.

In the piece, Raburu tried to imagine how raising his daughter would affect his work. Based on a fable that when infants pass on they become legends, he conceded to starring at the sky and weeping.

"What it would be like to go to work tired because you kept me up at night, who you would look like now? what colour of your skin? if you would drink as much milk as I did when I was your age," Raburu wrote.

"My daughter, you are an angel now, or so they tell me and when I look up to the sky sometimes I cry, sometimes I laugh. I want you to make so much noise in heaven, or in the multiverse you are in, I want you to have all the people there with you say 'Yeap that’s Willis’ child'," he added.

Raburu explained that he had become emotional, not because he was weak, but as a result of the love he had for his child.

"My daughter, my sweet lovely beautiful daughter, I’m sorry that you have to see daddy weak and in grief and not the pillar of strength that you and your mother need," the message read in part.

"My daughter, daddy loves you, since He (God) listens to you, talk to Him and tell Him, daddy doesn’t understand but daddy needs help. Rest in palaces, RIP because you are royalty," Raburu concluded.

On January 8, his wife, Marya Prude, penned an emotional message, where she thanked friends and family who had reached out to encourage and uplift her spirit following the loss.
