Police Nab Terror Suspects 'Surveilling' Whisky River Lounge

The anti-terror police unit has arrested 5 individuals suspected of orchestrating terror in Nairobi County.

Reports from the Daily Nation on Sunday, January 19, indicated that the suspects, two Kenyans, a US citizen, and two Somalia nationals were nabbed while allegedly conducting surveillance at Whiskey River Lounge along Kiambu Road.

Reports from Citizen TV indicate that various items were recovered at the scene of the arrest, including a  Kenya Airforce trouser, one jungle t-shirt and a jungle hat.

Also recovered at the scene were money in various denominations, one MacBook laptop, one U.S passport, one U.S embassy security card, and various cheques.

The suspects were identified as Mohamed Abas Mohamud (U.S citizen), Mohamed Hassan Bario (Somali), Hodan Abdi Ismail (Female, Somali), Ifrah Mohammed Abshir (Female, Somali) and Mohamed Adan (Kenyan).

This would not be the first time that the police are pouncing on individuals behaving suspiciously in various installations across the country.

On January 4, 2020, two people were arrested for allegedly taking photos at the General Service Unit's RECCE Company's headquarters in Ruiru town on the outskirts of Nairobi.

The two, James Mburu Ikaba and Miriam Njoki, were arraigned in court in Nairobi on Jan 6 but they didn't plead to any charges, as the police sought an order to detain them for 10 days.

In another unrelated incident, police officer repulsed an attack by suspected militants numbering around 50, who had attempted to attack Pandanguo Village in Lamu county.

The insurgents are reported to have engaged reservists in a tough battle from Saturday 10.p.m before the GSU and KDF forces joined in, as the fighting raged on till 3.a.m on Sunday.
