In many events that involve top leaders like presidents, many preparations are undertaken to ensure that nothing performs below the expectations.
A man who has numerous times been at the middle of these preparations is Isaac Maina Wandere, the proprietor of Wanderjoy Party World, a company that has consistently been charged with state events.
Despite being a trained meteorologist working with the government’s air transport sector, Wandere would later venture into a rather simple field, thanks to his wife who came up with the simple idea.
“I used to work at different airstrips and airports in the country. I also used to work as a fruit broker. The brokerage job helped me get some extra income.
“My wife initiated the plan, with a suggestion that we buy a few seats and a tent that could be hired by neighbours,” remarked Wandere in a past interview at Citizen TV.
Despite his wife insisting on the tent and chairs business, Wandere was not ready to embrace it and would only come to the realisation of its potential later.
“I first bought my wife about ten chairs and a tent which she started renting to neighbours. The landlord gave us a certain corridor where we used to stash them as a storage point.
“After my wife left for Kosovo for personal business, the tent business was left in my hands,” remarked Wandere.
The job that Wandere earlier despised would slowly grow on him and he eventually ditched his government job for it.
“One time I rented the chairs and tents to a client and when the cheque came in, I couldn’t believe my eyes. The earnings were really good considering the little labour that had been employed.
“This changed my heart and I made a decision to quit my government job and maximise on it. I can comfortably say that this was the best decision that I made in my life,” added Wandere.
The Wanderjoy proprietor prides in hosting major events in the country including national holiday celebrations, State House events and other corporate events.
The company is also hired in other countries in Africa, especially for major regional meetings involving heads of states and international organisations.
In the run-up to the presidential election in 2017, Maina Wandere was reportedly one of the key financiers of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto's campaign.
In December 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta awarded Wandere with the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) title.
Wandere also serves as the national patron in the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa(AIPCA).
