He was also handed a bouquet of red and yellow roses, symbolic of Jubilee Party colours, put together in a conical shape.

The surprise was much-needed relief following his fiery interview on Jeff Koinange's JKLive, where he had taken on Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.

Earlier in the day, the fiery politician had experienced an outpour of love from Kenyans who wished him a happy birthday and many returns.

The plaudits were led by among many the ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale, Dennis Itumbi and Citizen TV news anchor Jeff Koinange.

"Happy Birthday, one of the finest sons of the great county of Elgeyo. Big bro, Hon. Murkomen, I wish you more laughter and joy, happiness and victory, life and triumphant marches to even bigger conquests.

"I pray that your birthday brings with it a dawn of even more inspired moments, a powerful presence of ideas and may your oratory produce a unique sound of possibilities for every child in villages spread across our nation. Importantly, may you enjoy more sunsets and may you dribble your way to more goals," Itumbi wrote.

"Happy birthday my brother, friend, and agemate Senator Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen. To many more happy returns," Philip Etale added.

"Karibu sana, bro (You are much welcome, brother)...Thanks for coming through [to the JKLive show]...and here's to wish you a happy, happy birthday and all the very best," he Koinange wrote.

Murkomen is known for his fiery tongue and defence for Deputy President William Ruto and is considered one of his staunchest allies in politics.
