The Kenya Films and Classifications Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua has intimated that it is the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe who he owes for his career successes.
In a statement on his social media platforms on Friday, March 27, the KFCB boss, while congratulating the former KMPDU Secretary General Ouma Oluga on his appointment, let it slip that he had been appointed by Kagwe when he was in charge of the Information docket.
"Congratulations to Dr Ouma Oluga for his appointment as chief officer of health in the Nairobi County Metropolitan Services," he wrote.
"I made the same choice in 2007 when I resigned from the post of secretary general of the Kenya Union of Journalists to take up the post of director of information and public communications.
"Coincidentally, it happened when now Health CS Mutahi Kagwe was Minister for Information and Communications. The KFCB Boss stated.
Mutua further added that it is not an easy decision for anyone to leave a position where they wielded influence and dedicate themselves to public service.
"It's easier for one to join politics, but quitting the post of a trade union boss to take up a government post means that one is more committed to service as opposed to making money.
"It takes a great deal of integrity and desire to serve the people as opposed to cutting deals," the KFCB Boss added.
He praised the choice to appoint Oluga to Nairobi County as a well-informed decision that would work for the good of the county.
"I suspect the new Health CS might have had a hand in Dr Ouma's appointment. Hon. Kagwe has a way of spotting talent and nurturing it. I wish Dr. Ouma well in his new task," he concluded.
Oluga resigned as the secretary general of the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) after landing the new job.
According to a circular dated Monday, March 23 from Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, Oluga was appointed the new Chief Officer of Health in Nairobi County.
