Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on April 1, announced that 22 new individuals had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 81.
This is the largest figure in a day so far since Coronavirus was first reported in the country.
Speaking outside Afya House during his daily presser, the CS went on to reveal that they had tested 300 individuals within the last 24 hours.
"There are a lot of sceptics. I want to assure you that the virus is here and it is spreading among us," he stated.
Of the new confirmed cases, 18 were identified as Kenyans, 2 Pakistanis, and 2 Cameroon nationals, adding that 9 of them were females.
CS Kagwe then went on to urge Kenyans to adhere to the stipulated directives, reiterating the importance of social distancing.
"There's a very high chance that the person next to you has been exposed, please keep your distance," he warned.
Quizzed on whether the government was looking into effecting a lockdown, the CS's response was that for any measure or step to be undertaken, preparations need to be wrapped up beforehand.

We cannot emphasize enough what is likely to be ahead of us unless and until we adhere to the rules that we have established, he reiterated.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, on the same day, had gone on to reveal the identity of two Kenyans who had fully recovered from the virus, a fact which CS Kagwe had ascertained by disclosing that the two were tested twice and both results showed that they were cured.
Speaking to the two, identified only as Brian Cherutich and Brenda, in a videoconference, the president noted that they had fought the disease bravely and took upon themselves to contain its spread.
"Brenda we have been referring to you as patient one. You are special because immediately after arrival, without being coerced, forced or pushed, you took it upon yourself come forward," he stated.
