The gangsters proceeded to rob from the victims but one of those who had gone to purchase medicine positively identified the two.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke a Phadam Medicare Hospital representative gave an account of the incident, "The gangsters arrived ordering everyone to sit down and started frisking the people.

"When they took a wallet and phone from the university student, he started fighting back. As he was fighting them, a receptionist and the watchman managed to escape.

"On seeing this, the thugs wanted to flee but the deceased continued to confront them because his items were already taken and that's when he was shot," said the representative.

A section of a police report filed under Occurrence Book number 95/22/04/2020 read, "They shot him on the throat and he died on the spot.

"The deceased who is a Meru University 4th year student had come to buy medicine for his mother namely Phoebe Omogo."

According to the police report, the incident happened at around 7:40 p.m. and the armed suspects only stayed at the facility for about 10 minutes.

The body of the 24-year-old was transferred to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
