A Citizen TV journalist found himself in a situation while on duty when she got locked together with revellers inside a drinking den in Kiserian, Kajiado County.

In the report exposing cunning Kenyans who devised new ways to beat President Uhuru Kenyatta's Dusk-to-Dawn curfew order, the journalist went undercover and in some instances posed as a buyer to gain entry to the dens.

In the report investigated for weeks and voiced by Purity Mwambia, the journalist and her cameraman went to Kiserian for the investigation and the latter got locked in the den as police officers attempted to gain entry.

The investigations discovered that bars in the area operated from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to give a window for the patrons to get to their homes in time for the curfew.

So smooth was the operation that only the people who understood the mode of operation were allowed into the joints.

In the particular one that the journalist gained entry to, the customers had to slightly push the door or were to be accompanied by well-known clients to the joint.

Inside, the people are seen interacting freely in the dimly lit room with no care for Covid-19 danger or government directive on social distancing.

When the police were tipped off and raided the joint, the bar owner reportedly refused to unlock the door and some of the people inside were heard asking for the door to be locked with a padlock.

"The bar owner refused to open the door," stated Mwambia as the police repeatedly demanded otherwise.

The people inside were asked to stay silent by the owner of the bar and movement was forbidden.

They stayed indoors for two hours drinking in silence together with the cameraman who was discreetly filming the goings-on.

After a while, however, the officers broke into the joint and arrested all the patrons, even those who had hidden under tables and chairs. They were almost 20.

The squad contravened the president's order on closure of all bars with special directives on take away sales.
