Governor Loses Court Battle to 3 Fired Ministers

Three County Executives and one Chief Officer fired by Mandera Governor Ali Roba have been reinstated after they won a court case against the governor.

The Employment and Labour Relations Court on Thursday, April 30, reinstated the four officials who were sacked in February 2020.

The court ruled that a due process was not followed by the Mandera governor.

The three CECs are Abdiaziz Sheikh Maad (Trade and Industrialisation), Johora Abdi (Agriculture Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation), and Dr Shamsa Mohammed (Gender and Social Services).

Hassan Mohamed Ahmed the Chief Officer was reinstated as in his Health Services capacity.

While announcing the changes in February 2020, the governor had argued that the move would work on improving service delivery and also strengthen the focus on his development projects.

In the reshuffle, Roba had appointed Mohamed Adan as Trade CEC, Hogora Abdi (Agriculture) and Shamsa Mohammed (Gender).

The changes were Roba's second, since assuming office in 2017.
