Two men who were involved in a road accident lay unattended at the entrance of the Ruiru Sub-County Hospital on Saturday, May 2, after a good samaritan rushed them to the facility.

A video that surfaced on social media on Sunday, May 3, caused an uproar as a woman who had rushed the two men to the hospital using her personal car was with no option than to beg and cry for help as onlookers wondered why medics were not rushing to help the patients.

The woman's cry fell on deaf ears as she pleaded with nurses to attend to the two men who appeared to be nearly unconscious inside the woman's van.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative from the Ruiru Sub-County Hospital shared more details about the incident.

"There were two men, one was critically ill, they were all later attended to. The one that had severe injuries was referred to Thika Level 5 Hospital.

"The two arrived at the hospital on Saturday, May 2, at around 6 p.m. in the evening, the accident happened at Kihunguro Bypass," said the representative.

The hospital staff also noted that according to reports the two men were in a motorbike, riding on the wrong side of the road when they were hit by the vehicle.

The man who was admitted at Ruiru was discharged on Sunday, May 3, after he was given a clean bill of health and was taken home by a relative.

The hospital representative revealed why it took sometime before the two victims were attended to.

"When they arrived there was an emergency in the hospital but they were being helped.

"I have also seen the video. When you watch it, there is a trolley there, the medic who brought the trolley was taking gloves so that they help in taking the two victims in.

"The video did not capture the healthcare providers coming out, the woman who brought the two men had also panicked," the hospital representative explained.

The hospital staff, however, noted that the status of the patient who was transferred to Thika was unknown as calls to the hospital went unanswered.
