Bomet County Women Representative Joyce Korir starred in a Covid-19 sensitisation song originally done by Kenyan Gospel pop singer, Guardian Angel.

The song premiered on YouTube on Monday, May 4, and was also posted by Korir on her official Facebook page, drawing a lot of positive reactions.

The legislator.posted the video with a verse from the bible, "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the great locust, the grasshopper, and the caterpillar, my great army, which I sent among you.

"You will have plenty to eat, and be satisfied, and will praise the name of God, your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and my people will never again be disappointed.- Joel 2:25-26," wrote Korir.

The song was originally composed by the Permanent Presidential Music Commission which featured Guardian Angel, Chris Adwar and Christine Wambui, titled Corona.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Crispus Alex who shot the Korir video shared more details on the legislator's decision to use that medium to get her message across.

"There was an original video of the song done by Guardian Angel and company but we decided to just use the song in the clip.

"It was a sensitisation campaign meant for the public. We had shot it when the pandemic started, she was supposed to talk in the video but it did not happen," stated Alex.

The video was shot in Magadi Road in Kajiado County and shows Korir wearing a mask and sanitising her hands.

Alex revealed that plans were underway to have her do a voice over in another video, "We are working on having her speak in the video rather than having a song as the audio.

"The video will also have subtitles and we hope that the message on the virus will be able to hit home so that we can reduce it's spread," noted the video producer.

A number of musicians have come up with Covid-19 songs to sensitise the public about the pandemic including Salome Wanjiru, Kidum and Bahati.
