A Coast resident went on a rant against Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, alleging that he is broke and stealing from county residents.
In a video shared on social media platforms on Tuesday, May 5, Mola Mueza, who claims to be a staunch supporter of Joho's rival, Nyali MP Mohammed Ali (Jicho Pevu), picked a personal war with the governor, accusing him of being proud and mistreating Mombasa residents.
The resident's attack on Joho was triggered by the governor's directive to have Mombasa residents undergo mass testing by force, alleging that the governor was seizing the moment (Coronavirus pandemic) to steal from public coffers.
"Joho, you come from a poor background in Majengo and I even know where you used to stay. Right now, my brother, you have bestowed pride upon yourself and you are a billionaire. All of a sudden, the money is yours and not for the people of Mombasa.
"Stop being proud and respect others who respect you. You tirelessly abuse residents, arguing that you have provided money and food for them, yet you pocketed the money and stored other goods in warehouses with the intention of selling them. I think you are familiar with this world out of pride. This world will lead you, you won't lead this world," Mueza ranted.
He further poked holes at Joho's education, joining the governor's foes in criticising him for allegedly forging certificates. Joho's certificate drama haunted him before he was elected as governor for a second term. He, however, was cleared from investigation and prosecution over forgery claims.
"I plead with you Joho not to let your ego control you. Umefika mbali kwa pesa zako za haramu na za watu. Huna pesa hata moja were, za kuzitoa kwa jasho lako wewe, mwanzo wewe hukusoma, wajitia uzungu, uzungu wa nini. Si uje Amerika uje usome hapa, wewe wajifanya mzungu. You don't know nothing.
"The far you have gone is out of illegal businesses and benefiting from others. You don't own even a single coin and stop pretending that you know how to speak in English. For me I can sleep in a five-star hotel and pay Ksh 400,000 (per day)," he added.
Joho's friendship with Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, who reports claim would battle it out with other competitors to succeed Joho in 2022, irked the man, who proclaimed that they would vote in Nyali MP Mohamed Ali (Jicho Pevu).
"To Abdulswamad, please be cautious with Joho. He will put you in trouble. We will vote in Jicho Pevu because he has sacrificed for us. All you and Joho do is allege that Mombasa residents have contracted Coronavirus. You have been funded by the Americans (Ksh7 billion) to arrest the residents. You won't be blessed for mistreating Mombasa residents," Mueza ranted.
