ODM's condolence message to the family was echoed by the area Governor Granton Samboja through his social media pages.

"I have received with sadness the news of the passing on of Priscilla Wakesho Mwaruma, the mother to the Taita Taveta County Senator Johnes Mwaruma. This is a difficult and trying time for the Senator's immediate and extended family.

"On behalf of the County Government of Taita Taveta and the First Lady Stellah Samboja, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to the family of Senator Mwaruma.

"May the Almighty God grant him peace and comfort him and his family with love and compassion during this difficult time," Samboja wrote.

Senator Beatrice Kwamboka also sent her condolences to the family through her social media accounts.

"Senator  Beatrice Kwamboka sends her condolences to Senator Johnes Mwaruma of Taita Taveta and family following the death of their beloved mother Priscilla W. Mwaruma, May her soul rest in peace," she announced.

Mwaruma is one of the legislators from the coast region who have openly declared their support for Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

He was in ODM's bad books in 2018 for his stance alongside Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Badi Twalif of Jomvu.
