Reports reaching the Kenyans.co.ke news desk indicate that an accident occurred outside Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's Mua Hills abode based in Machakos County on Friday, May 8.
The incident occurred when a lorry that was transporting sand lost control and fell on its side, blocking the entire road. The goods it was carrying (sand) spilled all over the road.
At the time, Sonko was leaving his home in his vehicle when the lorry crashed in front of his gate.
Jacob Elkana, the director of communications at the governor's press office, confirmed the incident giving an update of the status of the county head.
"The governor was unharmed, he is okay," he told this writer via a text message.
Nobody was injured in the incident as the driver of the lorry ran away from the scene.
"Police have taken up the matter and investigations have commenced," Elkana added.

A survey released by NTSA dated April 23 showed that 262 motorcyclists had died on the road since 2020 began.
The number is slightly high compared to 2019 whereby 204 motorcyclists lost their lives by the same date.
The Authority has so far reported a total of 1,022 people who have lost their lives since the year began compared to 1,058 who died in 2019.
At the same time, the World Health Organisation through a report titled the Global Status Report on Road Safety showed that between 3000 and 13000 Kenyans lose their lives in road traffic crashes every year.
