A Kenyan man in the US was killed in a tragic road accident, moments after he had stabbed his wife at their Richmond, Virginia home.

The man identified as Wa Martin had sped away from his house, after being involved in the ugly confrontation with his wife, leaving her with serious injuries.

A report by Henrico Police stated that the man's car caught fire in the woods along I-64 after the driver veered off, hitting a tree at high speed.

On Wednesday, May 20, multiple reports in the US detailed that the man was suspected to have committed suicide by crashing his car.

Firefighters used foam to put out the fire after locating his vehicle in a wooded ditch.

Police, later on, rushed to his house following an emergency call and rushed his wife to the hospital in critical condition.

The law enforcers stated that both cases were under investigation while declining to disclose her injuries.

Cases of domestic violence have been on the rise after the outbreak of Coronavirus.

On Monday, April 6, UN chief António Guterres called for measures to address a "horrifying global surge in domestic violence" directed towards women and girls, linked to lockdowns imposed by governments responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The current lockdowns, isolations, quarantine, restricted movement and social distancing have caused women and girls to spend more time with potential abusers or known abusers," the report by UN stated adding that in the period before and after Corona (previous 12 months) 243 million women and girls (aged 15-49) across the world have been subjected to sexual or physical violence by an intimate partner.
