Police in Embu West are investigating the gruesome murder of 57-year-old Beatrice Wanjiru Gatura which occurred on Friday, May 22 at 6.30 p.m at Maria Mairi Village.
Wanjiru who worked at Ministry of Lands in Embu County was found with deep cuts, inside her vehicle, which was parked in the middle of Embu-Kibugu road.

Embu West OCPD Charles Kinyua told the media that upon opening the car, police found the deceased’s hands tied, mouth gagged and her throat slit.
They believed that the 57-year-old was killed elsewhere and the body dumped.
Eyewitnesses told investigators that they saw two men alight from the vehicle and board a boda boda.
Wanjiru was last seen at her office on Friday noon and was reported missing by the family at 7 p.m.
Further inspection of the vehicle revealed a kitchen knife which is believed to be the murder weapon.
Charles Muchwe, her brother has called for a speedy probe to bring the culprits to book.
Cases of insecurity have been on the rise, with security organs being preoccupied with the enforcement of Covid-19 directives which has stretched the capacities.
