Despite Muranga Senator Irungu Kang'ata waging war on Deputy President William Ruto's allies in the Senate, a video of him pledging his support for the former Eldoret North MP has resurfaced.

In the video, Kang'ata is seen warning Jubilee of Raila Odinga after joining forces with President Uhuru Kenyatta and also pledged his support for Ruto in 2022.

"We as followers of Jubilee we are telling, Raila Amollo Odinga that despite joining our party we are keeping a close eye on him because we know that we are supporting William Ruto in 2022.

"He has done a good job with His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, you know Ruto has not been in a rush, he has been patient," Kang'ata stated at the time.

The Majority Chief Whip argued that Raila was always in a hurry and that was why he lost votes in Central Kenya in 2007 because he was in a rush and disrupted the government due to his lack of patience.

"Ruto is someone who knows that patience pays. He has not been in a rush and helped Uhuru Kenyatta. We who are in Jubilee, we will support Ruto in 2022.

"Despite Raila joining us, we are closely monitoring his moves and we remember how he destroyed our government in 2007," noted Kang'ata.

Since assuming his position as the Majority Senate Whip, Kang'ata has so far managed to oust Deputy Senate Speaker Kithure Kindiki.

After the 2017 elections, the senator was seen as Deputy President William Ruto's staunch supporter and was at the forefront of supporting his Presidential bid in the 2022 General Elections.

Back in February 2019, Kang'ata appeared to slowly shift his alliance back to Uhuru and appeared to be ditching Ruto's camp.

"He (Ruto) has been my friend...that is why I don't malign him and his presidential bid. I choose to abide by the directive of the President and I will wait for his direction on where the Mt Kenya region will be in the 2022 game plan," noted Kang'ata.

This came after Uhuru urged political leaders to tone down on politics and focus on nation-building instead of engaging in pre-mature campaigns.
