Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary-General Caleb Kositany on Sunday, May 24, laid bare details of a planned 'invite-only' party Parliamentary Group meeting on Tuesday, June 2.
The Soi Member of Parliament lamented about the nature of invites by Jubilee Party to its members as he claimed they were selective.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa claimed that he had heard about the planned meting from grapevine but noted that he had not received an invitation.
"I haven't received any invitation. What I know is that the other day I was seated with some of my colleagues and one of them got a call asking them whether they would attend a PG meeting if it is held on June 2.
"Another one got a call from his region asking him whether they would attend with the other MPs from the region," revealed Kositany.
The Soi MP noted that there was a lot happening in Jubilee but he was not sure of when the meeting would happen and added that the notices for Jubilee PG meetings had become personalised to regions.
Kositany went on to add that MPs expected to get a formal invitation normally sent from the Chief Whip's office or the office of the Majority Leader.
"It seems the intended Jubilee meeting is going to be by invitation and is not going to be open to all members of Parliament. But we will wait and see," noted Kositany.
Didmus Barasa noted that he would not support the changes to the party leadership in the National Assembly without being given a good reason.
"I have just heard from some people that we have a PG. Rumour has it that the meeting will be to change house leadership.
"My position has not changed. If we will be given sufficient reason to change them, then we will do it but if there are no grounds even if they succeed to change them, I will not be part of those changes," explained Baraza.
The Kimilili MP added that if the changes would improve the economy of the country and improve the bargaining power of many Kenyans, he would welcome the changes as opposed to political grounds.
