There was drama at Mediamax Network Limited offices in Nakuru County after a burglar broke in and tried to get away with a camera.

K24 TV on Thursday, May 28, reported that the burglar posed as a salesman and car dealer, before forcing his way into the offices located at Erato Plaza, 5th floor, in the 7:30 a.m. incident.

A K24 journalist, at the Nakuru offices, had earlier on directed the middle-aged man away from the offices after doubting his credentials.

"The young man’s appearance did not match that of a salesman or a car dealer. There was something off about him.

"Anyway, I informed the purported ‘salesman’ that he was in the wrong place and he proceeded to the 6th floor of the building. I then made my way to the washrooms, ensuring that I had locked the door," Kigotho Mwangi, K24's national reporter narrated.

The thief, however, seized the moment to find his way in but was caught red-handed by the journalist.

"On coming back, I found the door unlocked and the same young man who was in the office earlier was holding my camera ready to head out," Mwangi detailed.

The suspect pushed Mwangi out of the way and took off towards the exit, only to land into the hands of security guards who apprehended him.

He was handed over to police officers who launched an investigation into the incident as he waits to be arraigned in court.

The suspect was identified as a serial burglar, with various cases having been filed against him.

On May 18, he had been arrested after he reportedly stole laptops from patients at the Mercy Mission Hospital, Nakuru. The hospital later withdrew the charges after the laptops were recovered.
