Covid-19 patients quarantined at the Technical University of Mombasa raised concerns about few positive cases being admitted in the facility and others being released without testing negative.

The quarantined patients were also dissatisfied with the lack of proper facilitation, poor sanitation as well as delayed Covid-19 results.

"We have toilets lacking water, we clean our hands with sanitisers after visiting the washrooms, will we really defeat Coronavirus?" complained one of the women quarantined at the facility.

Mombasa is one of Kenya's Covid-19 hotspots having registered a total of 571 cases as of Monday, June 1. However, patients in quarantine questioned the rising number of confirmed cases.

"One time you are told that you have tested negative, later on in the day you are told you have turned positive again.

"Where are those who have tested positive, if indeed there is Corona, where have those positives been taken and they are not being brought here?" questioned another woman.

The Ministry of Health revealed that for a patient to be released he/she has to test negative twice but those quarantined read mischief in the release of some individuals.

"There are about six people who have been discharged while still positive, others have not even gotten their results back.

"They are being told to go quarantine at home and at home they left their families, is that really justice?

We don't understand, are people bribing their way out?" decried the woman.

Another woman who was quarantined together with her child complained about the poor food being offered in the isolation facility.

"This child has finished his medication, food is a problem, the porridge they provide is not properly cooked," complained the woman.

A man also noted that workers from the Kenya Ferry were discharged from the facility without being given a clean bill of health.

"After raising complaints, those in charge released 14 people from Kenya Ferry who were positive, we have clips to show that they were released," noted the man.
