A woman posing as a procurement officer at the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government was on June 5, apprehended at Milimani Law Courts where she pitched tent to lure her victims.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revealed that Mercy Waihiga Wanjiku alias Linda was arrested by Parklands Detectives suspected of obtaining money by false pretences.
Wanjiku is alleged to have obtained Ksh1.7 million worth of anti-lock jampins from a victim who she lured posing to be working under CS Matiang'i's docket.
"She lured her victim to an office at Jogoo House where she issued him with fake tender documents to supply the materials, the detectives noted.
The victim went ahead to purchase the items and delivered them to a parastatal vehicle near Agip House as directed.
"He was to proceed to Jogoo House procurement section for payments but the suspect had switched off her phone immediately after the delivery," police explained.
The same suspect has been charged with other offences relating to fake tenders at Afya House and was nabbed at the court premises where she had been arraigned in answer to them.
Police affirmed that investigations were still ongoing to bring to book her accomplices.
